| dc.description.abstract | «Книга 2. Литва» является логическим продолжением рассказа об историческом прошлом 1000-летнего Берестья, который был начат в книге 1 «Русь». Повествование включает 6 глав: «Полвека борьбы за наследие Руси», «Князь великии Витовть Кестутьевичь», «Парадигма Грюнвальда», «Век XV-й», «Жикгимонт Старый» и «Девять приоритетов Берестья» - и охватывает период с середины XIV до середины XVI в., когда Берестье как политический и экономический центр, а также как европейский город с ратушей, «друкарней», аптекой, монетным двором, башенными часами, водопроводом и пивоварением достигло пика своего расцвета. В книге предпринята попытка локализовать месторасположение перечисленных выше объектов средневекового города, который в тот период был вторым городом в Великом княжестве Литовском, «Руском» и Жемойтском.

| dc.abstract.alternative | The popular scientific monograph “Berestye castle" consists of three books: Rus, Lithuania and Res Publica and is devoted to the 1000th anniversary of the ancient town of the Western Rus - Berestye (Brest). It examines and systematizes the historical development of one of the ancient towns of Belarus - Berestye from the time of its first record in the most ancient Novgorod chronicle in 1017 till its total destruction in 1660. The dominant in the narration is one of the ancient Belarusian castles - Berestye castle - the predecessor of Brest fortress, which had been the residence of the first persons of the state in the period from the XIIIth till the XVIIth centuries and had played an important role in the political economic and social life of the town and the state. The castle was located on the place of the present archeological museum “Berestye".
Book II. “Lithuania" includes 6 chapters: “Half a Century Struggle for the Heritage of Rus", “The Great Prince Vitovt Kestutievich", “Paradigm of Grunwald", “IV century", “Zhikgimont Old" and “Nine Priorities of Berestye". It is a logical continuation of the story about the historical past of 1000 years Berestye, which started in Book I. The narration of the book covers the period from the middle of XIV century to the middle of XVI century, when Berestye achieved its maximum prosperity as a political and economic centre as well as an European town with the town hall, the printing house, the chemist's, the mint, the tower clock, the brewery and water supply. An effort was made in the book to localize the place of the above mentioned objects of the Middle Ages town, which was the second town in the Great Lithuanian principality, Rus and Zhemoitsk.
