| dc.description.abstract | В первой книге трилогии «Замок Берестейский» предпринята попытка обоснования первого письменного упоминания Берестья 1017 годом, для чего были привлечены как все известные исторические источники, включая «Хронику мерзебургских епископов», современницу тех событий, так и современные исследования по данной проблеме. Автор с комментариями и привязками к картографическим материалам излагает «Реестръ замку Берестейского 1566 года». Высказаны рабочие гипотезы о локализации двух древнейших доминант берестейской истории: вежи «яко Каменецкой» и церкви «святого Петра». Рассказано об сенсационных раскопках Берестья в 1970-х гг., участником которых был автор книги.

| dc.abstract.alternative | The popular scientific monograph "Berestye castle" consists of three books: Rus, Lithuania and Res Publica and is devoted to the 1000th anniversary of the ancient town of the Western Rus - Berestye (Brest). It examines and systematizes the historical development of one of the ancient towns of Belarus - Berestye from the time of its first record in the most ancient Novgorod chronicle in 1017 till its total destruction in 1660. The dominant in the narration is one of the ancient Belarusian castles - Berestye castle - the predecessor of Brest fortress, which had been the residence of the first persons of the state in the period from the XIIIth till the XVIlth centuries and had played an important role in the political economic and social life of the town and the state. The castle was located on the place of the present archeological museum "Berestye".
"Book I. Rus" includes 5 chapters and coveres the period from the first record of Berestye in the chronicle sources till extinction of Romanov branch of Western Rus princes who ruled in Berestye. An attempt to give proof of the first written mention of Berestye in 1017 was made in this book. For this aim all known historical sources were used including "Chronicle of Merseburg bishops", contemporary of that events and the last researches on the given problem. "The list of Berestye castle of 1566" with the author's comments and the ties to the existing cartographical materials are given in this book. The working hypotheses about the location of two ancient dominants of Berestye history like "Kamenets tower" and "Saint Peter's church” and the unique excavations of Berestye in 1970s a participant of which the author was.
